“I see the image of a naked man …” by Edwin Muir 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 (15 May 18873 Jan 1959)
I see the image of a naked man,
He stoops and picks a smooth stone from the ground,
Turns round and in a wide arc flings it backward
Towards the beginning. What will catch it,
Hand, or paw, or gullet of sea monster?
He stoops again, turns round and flings a stone
Straight on before him. I listen for sts fall,
And hear a ringing on some hidden place
As if against the wall of an iron tower.
