“A Room” by Patrick Kavanagh 🇮🇪 (21 Oct 190430 Nov 1967)
I’ve kept a room apart
Within my secret heart
That when she comes I may
Invite true love to stay.
I’ve kept a little room
Dream-lanterns illume
A room close-shut and fenced
All evil things against.
No darkling child shall enter
Or true-love’s foul tormenter.
The winds of death that screech
My true love cannot reach.
