“Denial” by Patrick Kavanagh 🇮🇪 (21 Oct 190430 Nov 1967)
I’ll not beg
Of any man again
Though bare as the Devil’s cupboard my own should be.
To my hunger will come angels
And my empty house
Will know the fullness
Of the grace of God.
O blest are the beggars
Who proudly go
With their lips closed tight.
